The English Shotokan Karate Association (ESKA) is a premier martial arts organisation spanning Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Essex. Founded in 1979 by a distinguished group of martial artists—Michael Nursey, Eddie Witcher, Michael Randall, John Van Weenen, Roger Hall, Harry Jones, and Greg Durant—ESKA has grown substantially while preserving its core Shotokan traditions. To support advanced student development, the association runs regular training sessions for senior junior and adult grades on the first Monday of every month. Today, many of ESKA’s largest clubs are directed by senior Dan grades who have trained exclusively under Sensei Michael Nursey, maintaining a generational legacy of elite instruction.

You can use this website to apply for your ESKA licence. You will need your current grade and an account to get started.
Gradings
Every 3 months we hold a Kyu Grading or every 6 months for a Dan Grading. You will use this website to register for your grading. You will need to be invited to grade first.
